Set-Up Recommendations

Caging:

ZooMed ReptiBreeze Screen Cage, Medium (16"x16"x30")

ZooMed ReptiBreeze Screen Cage, XL (24”x24”x48") recommended for adult males

If you purchase the Chameleon Kit from ZooMed you need to provide your Chameleon with more climbing vines and branches.  I use wooden dowels of different sizes and reptivines for climbing surfaces. Live and silk plants give them plenty of foliage to hide behind. Live plants also help to keep up humidity in cage.

You should have a thermometer and hygrometer to ensure the temperature and humidity are appropriate for your chameleon.

I absolutely recommend getting the substrate tray for the bottom of the cage. if you use a dripper or dripper plant, and even misting your chameleon can cause water in the bottom of the cage, this protects your furniture and floor.

Dragon Strand makes beautiful, sturdy cages.  They are a little more expensive, but well worth the cost.  Dragonstrand.com

Lighting (basking and UVB):

ZooMed ReptiSun T5 HO Terrarium Hood (24"), LF-71 - Comes with a 5.0 UVB bulb (when your chameleon moves up to a large or extra-large cage, you may want to consider using a 10.0 UVB bulb)

ZooMed Combo Deep Dome Dual Lamp Fixture, LF-25 + ZooMed 75 watt Repti Basking Spot Lamp, SL-25 + ZooMed 75 watt

I use 60 watt halogen bulbs

Humidity and watering:

ZooMed Repti Fogger Terrarium Humdifier, RF-10 (use if extra humidity is required due to shedding, extremely dry air in the home, etc.)

ZooMed Big Dripper, BD-1

I like the dripper plants instead of the “Big Dripper”  with the plant you are able to (sort of) direct the water flow so it is a little less messy.

There are facebook groups that offer lots of information if you have questions.  Pinterest has so much information and ideas. Google has so much information!

Some live plants that are great for chameleons are Pothos, Ficus, Schefflera, Hibiscus, and Dracaena

You can order most of your supplies online.  Amazon is definitely my friend.
